Introduction: :
In our department, the number of IOD cases has been on an increasing trend, with a 30-40% annual increase in the past two years. These significant increases highlight the escalating severity of injuries within our workplace.
Objectives: :
The project aims to enhance colleagues’ knowledge and skills, empower staff to identify and mitigate workplace hazards, and promote safe practices in O&T nursing care.
Methodology: :
The training session, with included a scenario-based workshop. Previous IOD cases were utilized as the scenarios, and participants were tasked with analysing the causes of these cases and proposing corresponding preventive measures. Knowledge about preventing work related injuries in these scenarios is also mentioned.
Result & Outcome: :
The knowledge levels of the participants were assessed using the same set of pre and post-test multiple-choice questions. Furthermore, program evaluation was collected at the end of the training session.
A total of 11 care related supporting staff attended the workshop. During the workshop, participants demonstrated their ability to analyse the root causes of IOD cases, and their knowledge increased by 66% from the pre-test to the post-test. Overall, the participants expressed satisfaction with the program.
