Leadership for Climate and Sustainability in Healthcare

Speaker 01:15 PM - 02:30 PM (Asia/Hong_Kong) 2024/05/16 05:15:00 UTC - 2024/05/16 06:30:00 UTC
The healthcare sector is a major contributor to climate change, which causes harm to populations both locally and globally. Hospitals are part of the solution. Leaders must develop the competencies to engage key stakeholders on this common journey and contribute to the transformation towards low-carbon, resilient and sustainable healthcare.
In 2022, the International Hospital Federation (IHF) established the Geneva Sustainability Centre to equip hospital leaders with the information, tools, and skills to deliver a net positive impact for a healthy and resilient future. In parallel, the IHF updated its leadership competency model to support healthcare leaders in building the skills needed for future-ready hospitals.
This session will address why healthcare leaders globally must become climate leaders and how we can tackle climate change through impactful and available solutions. We will first present how we can develop adaptive leadership responses to climate change through a competency-based approach. The audience will the hear from three healthcare leaders from the UAE, Australia, and Singapore to present their sustainability journey and perspectives.
