SMART Hospital – Lessons from the Operating Theatres

Speaker 02:45 PM - 04:00 PM (Asia/Hong_Kong) 2024/05/17 06:45:00 UTC - 2024/05/17 08:00:00 UTC
With the ever-rising healthcare cost and ageing population, a SMART hospital is high sought after. This can only be built over time with iterations, and we have to start small with a segment of care.
In Singapore General Hospital, we build several innovations for our operating theatres. Our tenets are safety, synchrony, sustainability and social, which is applicable to many other areas.
We learnt that data type required may not be routinely collected. Existing infrastructure and its connectivity to the equipment may not exist. Workflow will needed to be adapted to new innovation and the workforce needs to prepared for re-training.
The definition of value creation should be diverse and beyond that of finances. With the world-wide insatiable need for healthcare provider, both patient's and staff experiences must be added in our equation for healthcare value.

Smart Hospitals, Shaping Population Health and Value-Based Care with Digital Mastery

Speaker 02:45 PM - 04:00 PM (Asia/Hong_Kong) 2024/05/17 06:45:00 UTC - 2024/05/17 08:00:00 UTC
The rise of digital technologies presents unparalleled opportunities for smart hospitals to transform healthcare delivery systems. In this presentation, we delve into the strategic role of digital mastery in driving population health management and value-based care models. Smart hospitals, empowered by AI, machine learning, and telehealth solutions, are shifting from reactive medical models to proactive, preventive, and personalized healthcare strategies. Leveraging data analytics and predictive modeling enables them to optimize resource allocation, anticipate patient needs, and deliver superior care quality.
Eliminating data silos and enhancing interoperability across health services are crucial for comprehensive patient profiling and coordinated care delivery. This is essential in achieving the transition towards value-based healthcare. Practical strategies and real-world case studies will guide healthcare leaders in integrating these technologies while addressing the ethical challenges of digital transformation. By adopting these practices, smart hospitals can become leaders in achieving improved patient outcomes and fostering healthier communities through effective, value-based care.

Smart Hospital in China , A Case Study of Ruijin Hospital

Speaker 02:45 PM - 04:00 PM (Asia/Hong_Kong) 2024/05/17 06:45:00 UTC - 2024/05/17 08:00:00 UTC
The rapid development of new-generation information technology represented by cloud computing, big data, Internet of Things, 5G mobile networks and artificial intelligence is becoming a new engine for high-quality development of hospitals in China mainland. Building smart hospitals integrating smart services, smart medical care and smart management has become a consensus for large tertiary hospitals to strive for inter-hospital development in China mainland. the National Healthcare Commission has organized and conducted the graded assessments of electronic medical records, smart services and smart management, which strongly guided and promoted the process of building smart hospitals.
As a forerunner in building smart hospitals, Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine has obtained the seventh level of electronic medical records graded assessment, the fourth level of smart services graded assessment, and the third level of smart management graded self-assessment, which is ranked among the top in China. In terms of smart services, through the pilot application of "Convenient Medical Services of Digital Transformation 1.0 to 3.0” in different scenarios, Ruijin Hospital has provided services via mobile devices, the "One Mobile Phone for Hospital Visits, Digital Transformation Empowering Smart Hospitals" service has been recognized as one of the top ten healthcare reform initiatives in Shanghai. In the aspect of smart healthcare, effective applications have been achieved for clinical decision-making assistance (e.g. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) prevention and treatment), diagnostic and treatment assistance for radiology and pathology. These applications improved the quality and efficiency of diagnosis and treatment. For smart management, Ruijin Hospital has applied smart logistic robots in a large scale in different scenarios. A digital twin smart operation and management platform has also been built to monitor trends of hospital operation and manage operational details. These practices have enhanced the hospital’s precision management capabilities.
