Internet Hospital Service in China , A Case Study of Ruijin Hospital

Speaker 09:00 AM - 10:15 AM (Asia/Hong_Kong) 2024/05/17 01:00:00 UTC - 2024/05/17 02:15:00 UTC
Around 2015, with the vigorous rise of the internet economy in China mainland, "internet + healthcare" became a hot topic. Social capital has poured into the provision of internet healthcare services, public hospitals, as the main providers of healthcare services in China mainland, mostly remained in a wait-and-see state. In 2018, regulations such as "Measures of Internet Diagnosis and Treatment Management (for Trial Implementation)", "Measures of Internet Hospital Management (for Trail Implementation)" were released by the National Healthcare Commission, internet hospitals started their development towards standardization. Internet healthcare services achieved rapid development especially during the COVID-19 pandemic started in 2020.
Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine officially launched Internet application services from April 2020, providing services such as Internet consultation, online e-prescription, online payment and medical insurance settlement, online reservation for testing and inspection, and third-party medication delivery, which changed the previous outpatient medical mode of having to visit hospitals offline to seek medical treatment. With offline healthcare services in conjunction with internet hospital, Ruijin provides online innovative services such as online self-service prescription renewal and test appointment renewal. Meanwhile, a series of offline convenient services were provided to patients through internet services platform. Especially since 2021, Ruijin Hospital has taken the lead in carrying out the construction of "Convenient Medical Services of Digital Transformation 1.0 to 3.0" under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, these services provide accurate appointment booking, smart triage, cell phone convenient payment, in-hospital navigation, online pre-consultation, smart guidance and other services to improve the efficiency for patients when they're seeking medical treatment.
