Introduction :
Online learning platforms have become increasingly significant in training healthcare professionals. These platforms increase accessibility by allowing learners to access training materials anytime and anywhere, eliminating the need for physical attendance. They offer flexibility in terms of time and location thus learners can access course materials at their own convenience, and study at their own pace. Learner engagement can be enhanced by interactive aspects found on online platforms, such as discussion forums and quizzes. The use of online platforms for continuous professional development is particularly beneficial in addressing the global shortage of well-trained healthcare professionals.

While in-person briefings and classroom instruction were the traditional methods of knowledge transfer in the past, online learning platforms such as Ed-puzzle and Google Classroom had been employed for training on the implementation of the Confusion Assessment Method - Intensive Care Unit (CAM-ICU) and for in-service training on Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) in July 2023 in North District Hospital respectively, in order to facilitate nurses’ learning.
Objectives :
(1) To assess nurses’ satisfaction with the online learning platform; (2) To evaluate the effectiveness of the online learning platform.
Methodology :
A staff survey regarding the use of an online learning platform in the intensive care unit was evaluated in terms of (1) accessibility; (2) flexibility; (3) efficacy and (4) knowledge delivery. The survey was open to all frontline nurses.
Result & Outcome :
Fifty-two responses from the staff survey (response rate: 83.9%) were reviewed. They have all used online learning platforms such as Ed-puzzle (84.6%), Google Classroom (32.7%), and ZOOM (65.4%). Nurses agreed that these platforms can be accessible at any time (63.5%) and from any location (57.7%), and they are easy to use (61.6%). In terms of knowledge delivery, 63.4% of nurses believed that the online training platform effectively delivered the training content.

Feedback were collected on the interactivity of online learning platform, a communication channel was proposed to further utilize that allows for speedy explanation of doubts and fosters active involvement through discussions.

Since the utilization of online learning platforms in nurse training provides a simple and flexible way for our nurses to improve their knowledge and abilities; it will be employed further in the ICU.
