Introduction :
Pneumococcal vaccination is one the effective ways to protect high-risk groups from pneumococcal infection. The Scientific Committee on Vaccine Preventable Diseases recommends high-risk elderly to receive a course of pneumococcal vaccination as one single dose and one mop-up dose (1 year after the single dose). From recent statistics, a potential missing mop-up dose was observed. Hence, exploring promulgation means to encourage receiving mop-up dose for pneumococcal vaccination was suggested. In the era of mobile technology, highly accessible vaccination information in HA Go can be a facilitator for patient empowerment in completing the vaccination regimen. Based on related guidelines from Government Vaccination Programme and the patients' immunization records in the Clinical Management System, personalized HA Go reminders can be sent to applicable patients' mobile devices, thereby, empowering patients’ self-care management.
Objectives :
By developing a system interface between AIDA Patient List Generator and HA Go Notification System, HA Go notification for pneumococcal mop-up vaccination can assist to
1. Remind applicable HA Go users for pneumococcal mop-up vaccination after the single dose and upon the appropriate date for the mop-up dose
2. Empower patients’ self-care management by reminding appropriate vaccine date and vaccine type for the mop-up dose
Methodology :
The function for sending HA Go reminder of pneumococcal mop-up dose to applicable patients was launched on 5 October 2023, including the followings:
1. Generate patient list from AIDA based on patient criteria and distribution rules.
2. Interface the patient list to the HA Go for sending reminders to the applicable HA Go users.
3. Applicable HA Go users will receive the reminder for a mop-up dose on the day after the single dose and upon reaching the appropriate date for the mop-up dose.
Result & Outcome :
It was observed that 104 reminders had been sent on the first day launching the function. With highly accessible reminder, improvement in completing pneumococcal vaccination regimen amongst high-risk elderly would be expected. Further evaluation is needed to compare related statistics before and after launching the function.
