Introduction :
Pressure Injuries, Delirium and Feeding problems are very common problems in Geriatrics wards. However, frontline staff like PCAs are lack of knowledge in taking care of geriatric patients with these problems. As a result, Prevalence of pressure injuries and delirium in geriatric wards are high which directly increase the length of stay of geriatric patients. Therefore, a structural training programme was initiated to fill the gap in patient care for PCAs to equip them with essential knowledge and skill to improve quality of patient care.
Objectives :
To consolidate the knowledge of PCAs in pressure injuries, delirium and feeding problem To empower the PCAs with essential skill in taking care of patients with pressure injuries, delirium and feeding problems
Methodology :
Six training sessions were conducted. The training programme consisted of patient care in three different aspects, including pressure injuries, delirium and feeding problems. Each session began with a set of pre-question to test PCAs knowledge before the training session. A set of post-question used for evaluation after the training session. Moreover, the same set of post-question would be used after a month of the training session for evaluation purposes.
