Introduction :
Many factors influence the success of a CAD patient’s lifestyle change. Besides the implementation of cardiac rehabilitation program, some patients may need addition of specific physical activity (PA) counselling and dietary intervention to influence health outcomes.
Objectives :
To investigate CAD patients’ perception of feasibility of a multicomponent program to enhance physical activity and dietary interventions in addition to a usual cardiac rehabilitation care.
Methodology :
Design of a multi-component intervention including delivery of educational content, discussion on barriers, practical demonstrations, and monitoring of patient progress by phone calls. Work site visit and demonstration of the change in typical workday activities with increase in energy expenditure and reducing prolonged sitting time. Individual nutrition counselling on therapeutic diet and benefits of dietary modifications.

Examples of behavioral strategies including:
- Substitution: e.g. stay active during work like take several sit-to-stand
cycles as work site breaks
- Social support; e.g. enjoy healthy foods with coworkers, family members
- Self-reward: e.g. provide positive feedback to patient for physically
active and improving eating habit by choosing heart healthy foods after
nutritional counselling.
- Commitment: encourage tangible commitments like fill in logbook; regular
monitoring of body weight, blood tests results

Individual qualitative interviews were conducted by occupational therapists and patients’ perceptions of the PABSE were collected.
Result & Outcome :
Patients statements:
• I used to pay little attention towards my emotions and impulsive eating
behaviors, now I had the awareness and confident to increase healthy food
choice
• I was happy to know that my eating habits changed had leaded to good
maintenance of fasting blood glucose level
• I increased PA by “walking during lunch breaks”
• My worksite PA breaks were “use less lift”
• I would like to suggest to record the progress by smartphone app instead of
log book

Conclusion
Appropriate mix of strategies according to patient ‘s preferences will be feasible and more effective for the heart healthy lifestyle change.
