Introduction :
KWC West Kowloon GOPC (WK GOPC) is planning to renovate on July 2023. In the period of WK GOPC of renovation, it will merge with Nam Cheong Family medical clinic (NCFMC). Due to Specimen and blood samples from the two clinics need to be sent to different laboratories. Specimen and blood samples from NCFMC need to be sent to the laboratory of Caritas Medical Center, while Specimen and blood samples from the WKGOPC need to be sent to the laboratory of Princess Margaret Hospital and the laboratory of the Department of Health respectively. This can easily create confusion for co-workers and delivery drivers.
Objectives :
To enhance the workflow of specimen box collection
To improvement the efficiency of the process of specimen box collection
To maintains and clear record for the specimen box collection
Methodology :
Color coding - Each laboratory arranges a designated color Specimen sample collection box, it allows colleagues and delivery drivers to distinguish different laboratories by color
1. CMC laboratory – Red
2. PHM laboratory – Blue
3. DH Laboratory - Green
Clear Label - The laboratory to be delivered is clearly marked on each specimen collection box
Clear record - Each delivery needs to be signed for confirmation, so as to track the whereabouts of the specimen and blood samples
Different location - The specimen collection boxes of different laboratories will be placed in different fixed locations, so that dedicated staff and delivery drivers can pick up the test boxes at the same location
Result & Outcome :
Since 24/7/2023 Merged clinics with West Kowloon GOPC, there is no specimens incidents appears, patient and staff showed satisfaction. The workflow will be continuously monitoring.
